Cancun Puerto Morelos

Cancun / Puerto Morelos

I thought I would share a little more information about our new sportfishing location at Puerto Morelos, in Quintana Roo State, Mexico, about 15 minutes south of the Cancun International Airport. The all new, El Cid Caribe Hotel and Marina facility is an extension of the world-famous, El Cid Mega-Resort, in Mazatlan. Everything is literally new, the sportfishing operation, the marina, the hotel, (300 five-star luxury units) and is located on a white, sandy beach, midway between Cancun & Cozumel, (approximately 20-25 miles in either direction).

The sportfishing operations and marina are under the guidance of General Manager Armando Gutierrez, (Armando went to the Maritime College with Geronimo Cevallos, the GM of the Marina El Cid, in Mazatlan). Armando has a genuine interest in the services provided aboard the various sportfishers and sincerely cares about the success of your charter fishing arrangements. Customer satisfaction has become his personal goal, which has long been the standard for all El Cid Marinas and hotels. Armando is English fluent and enormously responsive to providing a superior sportfishing entertainment operation.

Currently, the sportfishing fleet consists of four top-notch sportfishing cruisers, (a 29′ Bertram, 29′ Californian, a 29′ Phoenix and a 31′ Uniflite) all rigged with outriggers, downriggers, Penn fishing tackle, twin diesel power, required safety equipment, ship tto shore radios, sparkling clean bathrooms and more….. Additional sportfishers for larger groups are available and can be added as the need requires. The daily charter fishing rates are split into three different hourly categories, 4-6 & 8-hour durations. The current charter rates are reflected below.

Aries VI: 31โ€™ Uniflite Sportfisher, powered by twin diesel engines and cruises at 17 knots. Interior cabin provides comfortable table and seating arrangement. Captain Jose Francisco.
ย
Pescadora: 29โ€™ Californian, Down rigger, fish finder, GPS, W.C, VHF Radio, Captain Jose Francisco.

Don Pepe: A bristol clean 29′ Phoenix with twin 175 h.p Cummins diesel engines, spacious aft cabin arrea, outriggers and downriggers and ready to go…

Charters are inclusive of boats, crew, fuel, Mexican fishing licenses, all fishing tackle, rigged baits, beer, soft drinks, water, dispatch fees, ice, value added taxes and round-trip ground transportation from any Cancun and local hotels.

The sportfishers come well equipped, using Penn Senator 4/0’s, with 30-40 lb. line, terminal tackle, down-riggers, outriggers and fighting chair(s). Most of the blue water fishing is accomplished using rigged ballyhoo as trolling baits. Electronics consist of Fish Finders, GPS navigation and VHF ship-to-ship/shore radios on both, the cruisers and super pangas.

The distance to the fishing grounds is incredibly close and begins within 2 miles of the Marina entrance, allowing for much more fishing time for each charter. All-in-all, we, expect this new addition to our charter service to enhance sportfishing opportunities for our angling customers traveling to the Cancun-Cozumel area.
